Description
The heritage of the Hammond model B3 organ needs no introduction – clearly the B3 is one of the most iconic keyboard instruments in the world. Used worldwide by jazz, rock, pop, country and liturgical artists since its first introduction in 1955, it continues to demand stage position for artists who demand nothing but the original!
This particular B3 dates to c.1956 and has had only two owners during its lifetime – the current owner having it since 1983.
Well maintained and cared for, aside from a few visits to the Hult Center and Cuthbert Amphitheater for rental to major touring artists (one being Booker T), the organ has remained in a studio for the last 38+ years.
Electronically the B3 functions properly with all drawbars functional and switches working as they should. Cosmetically the organ is at 95% when taking into account normal wear for an instrument that is 65 years old. The only major blemish is a split in the left front trim (see photo).
The photos also show an additional volume pedal (to the right of the organ’s standard volume pedal) which was utilized in the studio to control synthesizers. This is easily removed if not needed (and may be removed prior to sale).
The accompanying Leslie is a model 122 and rated at 190w (see serial plate). It is performing properly and is connected to the B3 with a 30′ 6-pin cable (included). The cabinet is also cosmetically at 95%.
